Agility
A rapid whole-body movement with change of velocity or direction in response to a stimulus
Flexibility
The opability of a joint or series of joints to move through an unrestricted, pain free range of motion
Strength
The ability of a muscle to apply force and overcome resistance or the amount of force a muscle can exert
Reaction time
The time it takes for you to initiate an action or movement in response to a stimuli
Balance
The ability to stay upright or stay in control of bofy movement
Muscular endurance
The ability of a muscle or group of muscles to perform repetitive contractions against a force for an extended period of time
Co-ordination
The ability to perform smooth and efficient movements
Cardiovascular endurance
The ability to continuously exercise without tiring
Speed
The ability to move all or part of the body as quickly as possible
Body composition
The proportion of fat and fat free mass in the body
Power
The ability to exert maximum muscular contraction instantly in an explosive burst of movements
Continuous
Typically involves aerobic activities such as running, biking, swimming and rowing
Circuit
A combination of six or more exercises performed with short rest periods between them for either a set number of repititions or a prescribed amount of time
Interval
A series of repeated rounds of exercise, ranging from several minutes to just a few seconds
Weight
Bodybuilding, weightlifting, powerlifting, strongman, highland games, hammer throw, shot put, discuss throw and javelin throw
Fartlek
Prriods of fast running intermixed with periods of slower running
Plyometric
A series of explosive body weight resistance exercises using the stretch-shortening cycle of the muscle fiber to enhance physical capacities such as speed, strangth and power
