What is emergency care?
Emergency care is any health care service provided to treat any medical condition.
What are the aims of emergency care?
The aim is to diagnose and treat a casulty with urgent illness and/or injuries.

What are the priorities for a conscious casualty?
Performing DRSABCD straight away. “cows”, can you hear me? open your eyes, whats your name?, squeeze my hand.
Factors in controlling bleeding are?
- Apply pressure
- Cover the wound with a bandage
- Don’t press on an eye injury or embeded object
- Don’t press on head wounds
3 important actions to do if a person is suffering from shock
- lay the casultyy down, elevate their feet.
- Keep them warm and comfortable.
- Treat any injuries.
List 3 things to do to a burns casualty
- Cool the burn/put under cold water.
- Provide a pain relif to the wound.
- Cover the burn.
List 3 things not to do to a burns casualty
- Don’t touch the wound/burn.
- If a blister develops, don’t pop it.
- Do not apply ice.
If a casualty is choking and can not cough, what do you do?
- Encourage them to cough.
- Bend the casualty over, and give them 5 back blows. (Hit between the person’s shoulder blades with the heel of your hand), if still choking give them 5 abdominal thrusts.
If a casualty has an asthma attack, how many puffs of asthma medication should you give to the casualty?
4 puffs
What do you give a casualty that is diabetic and not feeling well?
Sweet sugary drinks, lollies like jelly beans.
List what you would do if the casualty is having a seizure.
- Protect them from harm.
- Allow seizure to finish.
- Position of recovery.
