Secondary sex characteristics
Traits arising from changes in both males and females at puberty. They are neither directly related to reproduction nor present at birth.
Primary sex characteristics
Body parts that are directly involved in reproduction and phone what are commonly referred to as ‘genurals’ and organs of reproduction.
Youth (VCAA)
12 to 18 years of age; however it should be acknowledged that classifications for the stage of youth can differ across agencies.
Estrogen
Female hormone that is produced by the ovaries which helps control and guide sexual development including the physical changes associated with puberty
Testosterone
Is a hormone found in both males and females however primarily in males which promotes muscle growth, hair grows and changes associated with puberty
