German people who were members of Hitler Youth look back fondly on it so they must have seen it as positive at the time.
It worked because the evidence of thousands making pledge to Hitler on his birthday.

What did the Nazis not achieve when indoctrinating the youth?
One million Nazi youth didn’t join.
Rival youth groups name & describe groups.
Just because they were members of Hitler Youth didn’t mean they necessarily supported it. Maybe sent by family because they knew dangerous not to be member.
People say education suffered but while this is certainly true it unlikely that stopped the Nazis being successful in indoctrinating the youth.
How did the Nazis achieve control over the youth through indoctrination?
Youth groups- youth law 1936, 7 million members, all old youth groups banned.
Hitler youth- 7 million members activities such as marches, war games, military style activities.
Girls BDM activities included cooking and cleaning lessons, story telling, learning about Hitler & German folklore & singing patriotic songs around a fire.

How did the Nazis control the youth through indoctrinating through the education?
They removed all Jewish teachers so only Nazi messages were being taught as well as sending teachers to a 1 month long camp to be trained (with Nazi messages).
Curriculum for boys & girls PE was given 25% of timetable as well as educated subjects that helped indoctrinate the youth.
Nazi special schools were used to train young boys into SS soldiers, some activities included war games with live ammunition.
