Short phrase for balafon is played 5 times in slightly varied versions, drum ostinato is interrupted by rests, bell marks the end

Mainly 4/4 (some parts in other metres)

Introduction is in free tempo, afterwards keeps a steady pulse
Describe rhythmic features
Frequent syncopation, cross rhythms during one vocal solo, vocal soloist uses triplets. Drums play rhythmic ostinato throughout the piece, djembe plays occasional fills

Layered texture, also includes monophonic texture in intro, some heterophonic parts (when 2 balafons play in unison)
Describe the dynamics of the piece
Little dynamic variation throughout the piece
