Q

Opposition

A

All things have Yin and Yang aspect

Q

Inter-Dependence

A

Yin and Yang cannot exist without the other

  • Yin organs depend on Yang organs to produce qi and blood
  • Yang organs depend on Yin organs for the nourishment derived from blood and essence

Q

Mutual Consuming

A

Yin and Yang are in a constant state of change for preserving the balance

Excess Yin: excess cold consumes Yang (full cold)

Excess Yang: excess heat consumes fluids (full heat)

Yang consumption: Decrease of yang leads to excess yin, feelings of cold (Empty cold)

Yin consumption: Decrease of yin leads to symptoms of excess yang, feeling of heat (empty heat)

Q

Inter-Transformation

A

Yin and Yang can change into each other.

  • Exterior cold (yin) invades the body and turns into heat (yang)
  • Excess heat (yang) can damage the body fluids and lead to deficiency of fluids (yin)
