“Yerma” written by Federico Garcia Lorca in Spain in the 1920s, was adapted by Simon Stone who modernised the play and directed the version I am studying. The play was produced in July 2017 and was performed in London’s young Vic theatre. This play was a recording of a live performance which I accessed from drama online. In this essay, I will look at the creation of mood and atmosphere through the acting and development of characters and design concepts and their effectiveness.
