A

This designation is used for entries that apply only at the current command, acknowledgements that apply only to the current enlistment or reenlistment, or entries that have a defined expiration date

A

Member has volunteered for special duty

Member has attended or been briefed on Navy’s policies (e.g. sexual harassment, security, hazing, indoctrination and liberty)

Official Military Personnel File (OMPF)

A

The OMPF is accessible through the BOL website and is the permanent image record of all accepted documents throughout a Sailor’s career. Documents submitted for inclusion should include a clearly legible, FULL Social Security Number on a high quality reproduction

Once received by NPC via mail, documents will be reviewed and screened for entry into OMPF Records. Documents without a fully SSN will be destroyed with no taken action

OMPF Documents must meet the minimum criteria:

A

Permanency- Must not be effective

Non-duplicative- Must not be contained elsewhere (e.g. NSIPS)

Single copy/Single source- Must be submitted once from a single submitting authority

Essential- must pertain directly to personnel administration: should not be irrelevant to the career (birth certificates and wills)

All Adverse material- any negative, substantiated, career relevant material that conforms to to the requirements in BUPERSINST 1070.27

All Commendatory material- any positive, substantiated, career relevant material that conforms to to the requirements in BUPERSINST 1070.27

Personal Awards (NAMS and Higher)

A

NDAWS Trusted agents (Admin Offices) and NDAWS Authorities are to enter awards into BOL NDAWS along the wet-signed certificates and electronically file the OPNAV 1650/3 and wet signed certificate into member’s OMPF

BOL NDAWS is the authoritative source for awards.

Older awards not reflected in BOL NDAWS must be entered into NDAWS by the awarding authority’s administrative department

Letters of Appreciation/Commendation, Unit Awards, and Campaign/Service Awards
The ESR displays personal awards, unit awards and campaign/service awards. Campaign/Service awards issued prior to 2006 were entered on a paper NAVPERS 1070/604 and should be filed in the member's OMPF. For unit and campaign/service awards issued after 2006, the award should be displayed in the Honors and Awards sections section of the member's ESR and submitted to the OMPF on a paper NAVPERS 1070/880 Award Record when the member reenlists or separates

Leave
Leave authorizes an individual to be absent for the place of duty. All active duty members earn 30 days of leave per year and they are officially encouraged to use the entire 30 days. All personnel must be provided the opportunity to take leave annually, with the opportunity for at least one period about 14 consecutive days. MILPERSMAN 1050-010 and Leave and Liberty , DoD Instruction 1327.06, state leave authorization in detail.

Leave Authorization
Once prepared, the leave request is electronically routed through the chain of command for approval. This process has streamlined a Sailor's request for leave, removing the paper trail and eliminating delays due to misrouting the paper copy MILPERSMAN 1050-090 provides the guidelines concerning granting of leave and determining if a day is counted as leave against the member's account

Leave Entitlements
Leave is earned at the rate of 2.5 days per months for all personnel on active duty in the Navy except for the following periods -Active duty of less than 30 consecutive days -Active duty for training, with pay, of less than 30 consecutive days -Lost time -Excess leave or other periods in a non-pay status The individual's monthly Leave and Earnings Statement (LES from DFAS is used to determine how many days of leave personnel have accrued
