German Exprssionism
- Originated in Europe in the Early 20th century, 1911
- Emphasised the emotional state of the artist and subject
- They used the medium of woodcut printing (a type of printmaking),
- Used dynamic, expressive linework and high contrast to convey extreme emotions.
- The viewer was to add their own emotions, creating an experience rich in drama that conveyed the inner reality of the subject matter.
