Decentralisation.
The movement of commercial land use and services from the centre of urban areas to the suburbs/RUF.
Gentrification.
When a deprived area attracts more affluent people, displacing the population.
Decline.
A process by which an urban area becomes worse- declining population, more unemployment, degraded environment, higher crime, etc…
C.B.D.
Usually at the centre of the city, with high land values and commercial functions.
Regeneration.
When an urban area is upgraded - (services, environment, transport and housing).
Depopulation.
A decrease in the number of people in a place due to outmigration.
Derelict.
Land that is now unused and may have abandoned buildings.
Site.
The location of a settlement and its features.
Inequality.
The imbalance between two measures, e.g. (income, health, rights).
Situation.
The location of a settlement in relation to other human and physical features.
Suburbs.
Areas of low density residential land uses on the edge of urban areas.
Affluence.
An individual who has an abundance/surplus of the things they need.
Studentification.
When residential area becomes dominated by student occupation.
Hub.
A location where many connections meet (e.g. a central train station).
Secondary.
Jobs involved in manufacturing.
Tertiary.
Jobs involved in providing a service (e.g. retail).
Quaternary.
Jobs that are involved in providing an information service (IT, R&D, consulting).
Quinary.
Jobs that involve decision making/upper management (e.g. CEOs).
Residential.
Land that is primarily housing.
Commercial.
Land that is being used to make money.
Deprivation.
When someone does not have access to the things they need.
Deindustrialisation.
The decline of secondary industry (manufacturing).
Rebranding.
Improving the image of urban areas.

The sale of goods and services online.
