Year 9 Flashcards
Speed distance time
Speed = distance / time
Time acceleration velocity
Velocity = acceleration * time
In a distance time graph how do you find the speed
The gradient
In velocity time graph how do you find the distance
Area under the line
Extension, strength of spring (N/cm) and force
Strength = force / extension
What happens after the elastic limit
The point after which the spring will not return to its original shape
Thinking distance, stopping distance, breaking distance
Stopping distance = thinking distance + breaking distance
Mass force acceleration
Force = mass * acceleration
How do you find the acceleration on a velocity time graph
Gradient
GFS, mass and weight
Weight = mass * GFS (10 on earth)
Terminal velocity
When gravity and air resistance become equal meaning that the object moves at a constant speed
Orbital speed
2 * pi * radius / time period
How do comets orbit differently to planets
They orbit in a oval shape and move a lot slower when the y are further from the object they are orbiting
Time charge current
Charge = current * time
Pros and cons of series circuit
Pros - can turn it off with 1 switch
Cons - if 1 component breaks the all break
If there are more components less energy is given to each
