What happens at the Gurdwara?
Sikhs come together for congregational worship. Guru Nanak built the first Gurdwara in the world in 1521-2 at Kartapur. In Britain, there are 200 Gurdwaras!
Why is the Gurdwara important in Sikhism?
It is central in the public worship of Sikhs. It is a place to celebrate birth, marriage and funeral services. It means they do it in front of God and the Guru - it shows respect to all.
How can the Gurdwara help homeless people?
The Gurdwara can help homeless people by encouraging Sikhs to give and donate money to the poor. It is part of the teachings. It reinforces the equality of all.
