A superlative adjective is one that states the subject is the most or least of something
E.g prettiest

An adverb is a word that modifies or adds description to a verb, an adjective or another adverb. They often end in ‘ly’ but not always

E.g smelly
Comparative adjective
A comparative adjective is one that states the subject is more or less than others.
E.g prettier, faster.
Personification
Personification is a specific type of metaphor, which describes a non human object with human features.
Oxymoron
An oxymoron is when two opposite/contrasting words are put together for affect.
Pathetic fallacy
Pathetic fallacy is when you use the weather/environment to reflect the mood
Metaphor
A metaphor is a way of describing something by saying the object is something else
Simile
a figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing with another thing of a different kind, used to make a description more emphatic or vivid
Describing verb
A describing verb is a verb that gives more detail as to how the action is being done. Such as rather than ‘he ran’ you could say ‘he skipped’ or ‘he rushed’
