Q

How is population measured using the capture recapture method?

A
  1. Capture sample, tag release
  2. Take 2nd sample, tagged amount represents their amount of total population
  3. Eg if 30% of 2nd capture tagged and 30 were originally captured total pop = 100

16
Q

What is the difference between volume and capacity?

A

Volume = space (LBH, in cubed m, cm etc)

Capacity = fluid object can hold

17
Q

Which axis is dependent or independent?

A
x = independent
y = dependent
18
Q

Direct variation formula?

A

p varies directly as r
p = kr

(k = constant)

19
Q

What is the percentage change rule?

Eg. Find the % change if you decrease 100 by 20% and then increase by 20%

A

RULE - If quantity is increased and decreased by same amount, answer is not original quanity

100 x 0.8 = 80
80 x 1.2 = 96

Percentage change = 96% - 100% = -4%

20
Q

What are car on road costs?

A

Stamp duty, price, rego, insurance, loan

21
Q

What are car running costs?

A

Service, petrol, tires, depreciation

22
Q

Fuel consumption formula?

A

FC = litres used / km divided by 100

Gives answer of L/100km

23
Q

Which lines are of latitude and longitude?

_ or I

A

_ = latitude (n, s)

I = longitude (e, w)

24
Q

How would I do 9.30am + 10 hrs on a calculator?

A

0930 degrees + 10 degrees

25
What is UTC/Greenwhich Time?
UTC = O Move West = - hrs Move East = + hrs
26
If question asks for local time what does that mean?
Convert to that countries time
27
What does it mean to be in daylight savings?
One hour ahead
28
Who does not participate in daylight savings?
QLD, NT, WA
29
% error formula?
= absolute error / measurement x 100
30
D, S, T Relationship?
D = ST
31
What is reaction time and reaction distance?
Reaction time = time taken to apply brakes | Reaction distance = distance traveled during reaction time
32
Breaking Distance formula?
d = kv² d in metres (breaking) k is constant v is initial speed (eg 60km/h = 60²)
33
What is stopping distance?
SD = reaction d + breaking d
34
15 degrees longitudinal change = ?hrs
15 degrees = 1 hour
