11
Q

Threats to tundra biomes

A

Global warming effects tundra biomes the most because of the plants and animals that have little to no tolerance to changes in climate and the snow layers

16
Q

Threats to aquatic biomes

A

Plastic pollution, oils spills, climate change and entanglement in fishing gear

17
Q

Landscape of desert biomes

A

Layers of soil that can be sandy, gravelly or stony depending on the desert. Large dry areas of land with sparse vegetation

18
Q

Animals in a desert biome

A

Scorpions, camel, kangaroo rat, addax and armadillo lizard

19
Q

Climate in desert biomes

A

Dry climate with temperatures spanning from 38 degrees C during the day and -3.9 degrees C overnight

20
Q

Threats to desert biomes

A

Grazing animals, habitat destruction and water scarcity

21
Q

Landscape of grassland biomes

A

Large open areas of grass with small widely spaced trees with rainfall and soil unable to support significant tree growth

22
Q

Animals found in grassland

A

Bison, wolf, deer, zebra, eagle and African wild dog

23
Q

Climate of grassland biomes

A

Grasslands consist of very or summers and cold winters which determine the vegetation that the biome will get

24
Q

Threats to grassland biomes

A

Overgrazing, invasive species, illegal hunting and climate change

25
Q

What factors influence climate in biomes

A

Soil, longitude and latitude, altitude, ocean currents and air movement

26
Q

Why is soil in biomes important

A

Soil in biomes determines what animals and plants are going to inhabit the biome. The amount of vegetation also impacts the quality of the soil as well as the biomes location in terms of the equator

27
Q

What role do microorganisms and bacteria found in soil

A

The bacteria and micro organisms play a huge role in maintaining soil fertility and quality by composting waste and fertilising soil, improve drainage and aeration, bring subsoil to the surface and mix it with topsoil and secrete nitrogen which helps bind soil.
