Jesus’ ministry

Incarnation
The Christian belief that God came to earth in human form (in the flesh) as Jesus
Christmas
A Christian festival that celebrates the incarnation of Jesus
Prophet
A person inspired by God through the Holy Spirit to share the messages of God
Consubstantial
Means that the Son (Jesus) is made of the same substance as the Father.
Both are God
Divine
of God or like God
Messiah
the chosen one sent down by God to save humanity
Son of God
a title of Jesus that shows his equal status to God the Father and that Jesus is not less than God but that he is one part of God.
Begotten
means to be brought into existence. Jesus is begotten because he was born. God is not begotten
because he has always existed
Son of Man
A title for Jesus that suggests he is also human as well as being divine
Eschatology
the discussion of the last things - death, judgement, the soul and the end of time
Last Day of Judgement
the Jewish and Christian belief that there will be a day at the end of time when all people will be raised up and judged for their actions
Holy Trinity
The Christian belief that there are three persons in one God
- Father
- Son
- Holy Spirit
Why is St John The Baptist important?
he prepared the way for Jesus, He announced that Jesus is the Messiah and He is the last of the Prophets
Marginalised people
people considered to be of minor importance in society (community of people).
