Historical Materialism
Focuses on human societies and their development through history, arguing that history is the result of material conditions rather than ideals.
Social Class
Groupings of individuals in a hierarchy, usually based on wealth, educational attainment, occupation, income, and membership in a subculture or social network.
Economic Base
Refers to companies and other employers that generate lots of jobs in a local or regional area. They also bring in income from outside the local area.
Capitalism
An economic and political system in which a country’s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state
Class Consciousness
The set of beliefs that a person holds regarding their social class or economic rank in society, the structure of their class, and their class interests.
Alienation
The separation or estrangement of human beings from some essential aspect of their nature or from society, often resulting in feelings of powerlessness or helplessness.
Revolution
Revolutions are sudden changes in the structure and nature of society.
Communism
A theory or system of social organization in which all property is owned by the community and each person contributes and receives according to their ability and needs

The action or fact of treating someone unfairly in order to benefit from their work.

Prolonged cruel or unjust treatment or exercise of authority.
Ideology
A system of ideas and ideals, especially one which forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy
Reductionism
Analysing and describing a complex phenomenon in terms of its simple or fundamental constituents, especially when this is said to provide a sufficient explanation.

The land, factories, raw materials, technology and labour necessary in producing society’s goods
