opposition of all war, refusal of fighting, the Great Depression caused many governments to go into pacifism.

Penalties placed upon someone, Italy had sanctions against them for violating international law.
Neutrality
Supporting neither side during war, the US was neutral sometime during WWII.
Nonaggression Pact
Soviet and Germans agreed not to attack each other during WWII. Germans broke pact and invaded Soviet.
Invasion of Poland
Germans and Soviet invaded Poland, sparked off WWII.(Sep. 1, 1939)
Blitzkrieg
”lightning war”, military tactic to create confusion among enemies. Mobile forces and concentrated firepower are used.

Invasion of Soviet by Germany. (June 21, 1944)
Pearl Harbor
Surprise Naval Japanese attack on America, led to US joining WWII. (Dec. 7, 1941)
Dunkirk
Battle that evacuated allied powers from Europe.(May 1940)
Radar
New war technology of WWII. able to track enemies near.
Sonor
Used in water during wwii. Used to navigate, communicate, and detect objects near or in water.
Holocaust
-A genocide of Jews ran by Hitler.
Stalingrad
Deadliest battle, Germans struggled due to harsh weather. Soviet stopped Germans progressed.
Rommel’s advance
German marshal in WWII, led in North African Campaign, invasions of France, Normandy.
Battle of the Bulge
German Campaign against allies, failed planned, allies destroyed Germans.
Kamikaze
Japan’s suicide attacks used to destroy warships.
Battle of Coral Sea
Battle in the Pacific theatre between Japan and US/Austria. Strategic victory for allies.
Homefront
Activities of civilians in a nation at war. Significant part of war efforts.
Island hopping
crossing an ocean by a series of islands instead of one long journey. US started this during the Pacific War.
United Nations
est. Oct, 1945 promoted peace and cooperation.
V-E Day
May 8, 1945, formal acceptance of Nazi’s surrender.
V J Day
August 14,1945 Japan surrendered to allies.
