Describe the “cash & carry” policy created by the U.S.
Countries in a war could purchase arms & ammunition from the U.S. These countries would have to use their own ships to transport the goods.

How was WW2 financed in the U.S?
- Through an Income tax, for the 1st time every working American was taxed on their income. The first income tax previously was just a tax on the rich or very high income earners. But now no one was exempt.

This occurred when the Japanese had invaded China & their armies swept through the Chinese province killing 300,000 residents.

There was an economic depression with rising unemployment & continuing the social unrest, dictators capitalized on those feelings & took control of their governments.

Both France & Britain agreed to Hitler’s demands so as to avoid war; this policy was called “appeasement”
What occurred when Hitler demanded the city of Danzig in Poland?
Poland refused to give it up and Hitler prepared to invade Poland.
How did Britain & France respond to Poland & its issue with Hitler (Germany)?
Britain & France agreed to support Poland if they went to war against Germany.
Why did Hitler (Germany) sign a non aggression pact with the Soviets?
He did not want to fight the Soviet Union on one side while fighting Britain & France on the other. It would be fighting a war on 2 fronts.
