Middle- NY, New Jersey, Penn, & Delaware (religious tolerance. depend on farming & commerce. Quakers- William Penn)
Southern- Maryland, VA, NC, SC, GA (Jamestown is the first settlement. Tobacco was the cash crop.)
Representative Gov (Virginia House of B)
gov in which the people elect their own officials and have a voice. House of B is the 1st ex of limited self-gov. Consisted of one elected by the people & one appointed by king
Limited Gov (Magna Carta)
This document granted the nobles various legal rights and prevented the king from imposing taxes w/out the consent of a council

2 levels of gov share power. Shared b/w the national ( federal) & state gov.
