What was the trigger?
Balkans~1912-1913- Serbia and other countries in the Balkans(Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Romania etc.)conquer most of Turkey’s land in Europe. Serbia became a powerful country and said A-H was its next target.
Assassination at Sarajevo (in Bosnia)- 7 young Bosnian Serbs planned on assassinating Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The first conspirator threw a bomb at his car but missed and was arrested. The Archduke turned back the way he came and one of the consistory who thought he had failed saw him and pulled a gun at the car and shot him in the jugular vein. By 11:30am the Archduke had bled to death.

The attempt to build up a strong army and navy gave nations the means and will to make war
A- how did the alliances help?
Europe was divided in to the armed camps, to help each other if there was a war
I- what was imperialism?
The desire to conquer colonies especially in Africa. This brought the powers into conflict- Germany wanted an empire. France and Britain already had empires
N- what was nationalism?
The belief that your country is better that others. This made nations assertive and aggressive
What was the triple alliance?
A military agreement
What was the triple entente?
A friendly understanding
What was the blank cheque?
The Austrian government asks the German government if it will support Austria in a war against Russia, if Russia supports Serbia. The Germans say they will support whatever the Austrian government decides to do
