What was the Schlieffen plan?

A

A: Germany will attack France, moving through Belgium and bypassing French defenses to surround Paris and demand France surrenders

B: Germany will then move its troops by train to the eastern side of the country and fight Russia

Belgium wants to remain neutral in the war. Great Britain defends its neutrality. Germany breaks it by attacking through Belgium and Great Britain joins the war

A

Germany almost successful but failed to take Paris. German army had to spread out with no communication between groups. Middle of attack they were vulnerable and France holds on to Paris. They send troops out to the front lines in taxis, trucks, carts, etc.
