The Australians went to war because they were in an alliance with Britain so when Britain was at war Australia would go and help them out

Britain claimed war on Germany because Germany invaded Belgium and Britain then declared war on Germany which meant Germany’s allies came into play and the war began

In 1914 the proportion of Australia born population was 82.9% the remainder 13.37 were natives of the uk 0.72 were natives of New Zealand or had a British background
Why would there have been such a large number who were born in the United Kingdom
There would have been such a large number who were born in the United Kingdom because Australia didn’t become their own nation until many years later which meant their was a high chance they weren’t Australian born
