Militarism
The belief of having a strong military, using armed forces as a tool of diplomacy (manage international relations).
-German expansion to naval forces create a competition between Britain (which was the strongest naval force). It soon expanded to France, Italy, Japan and the U.S
Alliance System
The Allies consisted of, France, Britain, Russia. The Triple Alliance had Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy.
- It kept the fear of single countries attacking others and the attacked nations Allies defending their allies.
RMS Lusitania
In response to Britain’s blockade of German ports, Germany used U-Boats to sink any Allied boats found in British waters. One British Linear ship, Lusitania, was sunk off the Irish cost. British and American lives were lost. It enraged Americans, and support for the Central powers from Americans were lost
President Wilson’s 14 points
It was a philosophy that a democratic nation should be based off of morality and not just national interest.
