What does Guaifenesin do?
Stimulates secretion and reduces viscosity
What does N-acetrlcysteine do?
Cleaves disulfide bonds linking mucin polymers
What does Benzonatate do?
Anesthetizes lung & pleural tissues responsible for the cough reflex.
“Numbs” the stretch sensors in the lungs. Stretch of these sensors during breathing causes cough.
