Working The Web
What is the difference between the WWW and the Internet?
WWW - It is a way of accessing information from a part of the Internet. You would have to access the Internet to view the WWW and any other contents it contains.
Internet - It is a huge network facility of many other networks. It connects billions of devices (computers, phones etc) together globally forming a network in which any device can communicate with the other as long as it is connected to the Internet.
Name 2 services that the Internet provides you.
Any 2 of these :
- Email : It is a service where you can communicate with people all over the world in an instant, instead of writing a letter.
- Youtube : It is a service where you can create or watch many videos across the world and collab with many people.
- Spotify : It is a service where you can download music and listen to it, instead of having to search up the song.
Give 2 examples on advantages about the WWW.
Any 2 of these:
- It is useful for the WWW to be on the Internet because people would have to only access one site instead of so many slides.
- The WWW gives any available and free information.
- It is accessible from anywhere and any mobile.
- With a newspaper article, it would usually take ages to find the topic or article you want to find. But with the WWW, it would take a millisecond to type what you are looking for and it is there.
Name as many (as you can) examples that the WWW can provide us with.
- Weather Forecast
- News reports
- Movie, tv show, book reviews
- Cooking recipes
etc. …
Give 2 examples on disadvantages about the WWW.
Any 2 of these:
- There is a danger of overload and excess information of the WWW.
- The WWW has to require an efficient information search strategy.
- Sometimes the search can be a slower process.
- It is very difficult to filter and prioritise information.
- There is a lot of unconnected information.
