Pathetic fallacy
Pathetic fallacy is a literary device wherein the author attributes human emotions and traits to nature or inanimate objects
Hyperbole
Deliberately exaggerated
Simile
a figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing with another thing of a different kind, used to make a description more emphatic or vivid (e.g. as brave as a lion ).
Different persons
1st person - like your there and it’s personal experiences.
2nd person- feels as if they are talking to you.
3rd person - gives more detailed descriptions about the situation.
Foreshadowing
A warning or an indication of a future event
Metaphor
A word or phrase which is applied to something not usually related
Personification
Giving a non living thing human characteristics
Juxtaposition
Words that contradict each other but are not side by side. ‘From ancient grudge break to new mutiny’
Jargon
Use of specific phrases and words connected to a specific profession or situation.
Onomatopoeia
A word that sounds like it is pronounced.
Oxymoron
2 words that contradict each other that are side by side ‘cold fire’
Figurative language
Using words with a meaning that is different form the literal interpretation
