Writing part unit 2 :( Flashcards
What does unit 2 focus on in the writing?
Description, narration and exposition
What ya do for description?
UNIT 2
So, you are technically describing a story, however its up to u how u will make the reader feel based on how u write ur damn “story”, what ya wanna do is:
* Don’t be boring - I woke up and opened my curtains. Went downstairs and ate cornflakes for breakfast
* Don’t be overly ambitious - The ostentatious azure automobile conveyance was established in the foreground of my familial abode
* Unrealistic/inconsistent detail - Wind howled as the rain poured from the heavens. The cottage was illuminated by golden rays of sunshine.
Other than that, ur main issue is literally the content :(
Other main tips:
* Show don’t tell
* Metaphor
* Personification
* Alliteration
*Simile
** Think of more sad saddasdasdadssd
What u do for narration?
UNIT 2
Example of this question:
* Write an account of a time when you enjoyed or hated taking part in an outdoor activity.
* Write an account of time spent in a hospital.
How to solve this question:
* Present development of events
* Wrote from pov
* Engage reader
What to avoid:
* Apparently u shouldn’t give all info?
* Control what reader knows
* Giving key details in intro will remove any interesting detail later
* U know i think u can do a lotta foreshadowing right? Not sure bro? What if thats description? Aye aye aye….
What u do for exposition?
UNIT 2
“Write an essay to explain your views on this subject, giving clear reasons and examples.”
- FORMAL TONE!!!!
Unknown audience and also no slang or contractions (is that being unsure?)
Expand on ideas ig:
Don’t just say:
“People need to be more active or they will make themselves ill later in life.”
Do say:
“Being more active is essential for health and wellbeing throughout our lifetimes. Those who do not maintain their fitness are far more likely to be plagued by a wide range of illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure.”
On the whole, u just explain ur own ideas and being aware that reader understands that?
Oh btw what’s like the main structure of any typa writing?
lol probably all of them
Intro/opening
(aims to hook reader ig)
Middle section aka all yo main points
(apparently we need 3 to 5 paragraphs?)
Conclusion
(yo last chance to convince reader, this ones gotta be powerful, unfortunately i haven’t always been the best to be thought-provoking or at least very convincing to be inspirational ig, tho as i said, gl)
