What are the three divided parts in a history essay?
Introduction, body and conclusion
The introduction is where you
state the thesis
The body is where you
present you reasons and offer evidence for it
The conclusion is where you
sum up and review your main points
‘Explain’ or ‘why’ questions
ask you for reasons
‘Assess’ or ‘evaluate’ questions
require you to state the importance of a factor in relation to other factors
‘Say how far ‘X’ had been a contributing factor’ questions
ask you to compare ‘X’ with other factors and explain how much ‘X’ contributed towards an outcome.
