Action - limits ulna deviation

Origin – pisiform and ulnar border of flexor retinaculum
Insertion – base of proximal phalanx of little finger
Action – abduction of MCP joint of little finger
flexor carpi ulnaris
Origin - humeral head: common flexor tendon, ulnar head: medial aspect of olecranon and upper 2/3 of ulna
Insertion - pisiform, hook of hamate and 5th metacarpal
Extensor Indicis
Origin - junction of the middle and distal 1/3s of the ulna
Insertion - extensor apparatus of the index finger
Action - extension of DIP, PIP and MCP of index finger
extensor digiti minimi
Origin - lateral epicondyle via common extensor tendon
Insertion - extensor apparatus of the little finger
Action - extension of DIP, PIP, and MCP of little finger
flexor pollicis longus
Origin - Longus: posterio lateral aspect of middle 1/3 of ulna and interosseous membrane
Insertion - Longus: base of the distal phalanx of the thumb
Action - Longus: Extension of DIP, assists extension of MCP and CMC of thumb
flexor pollicis brevis
Origin - radius and interosseous membrane below APL
Insertion - dorsal aspect of base of the proximal phalanx of thumb
Action - Extension at 1st MCP joint, assist extension and abduction at CMC joint

Origin - ulna styloid
Insertion - palmer: pisiform, dorsal: triquetrum
Action - limits radial deviation
abductor pollicis longus
Origin - posterior aspects of the radius, ulna and interosseous membrane
Insertion - radial aspect of base of first metacarpal
Action - abduction and extension of the thumb at 1stCMC joint

Origin - upper ¾ of the medial and anterior aspects of the ulna and attached interosseous membrane
Insertion - palmar aspects of bases of distal phalanges of index, middle, ring and little fingers
Action - sole flexor of DIPs, assists flexion or PIP, MCP and wrist joints
Opponens Digiti Minimi
Origin - hook of hamate and ulnar border of flexor retinaculum
Insertion - ulnar border of the 5th metacarpal
Action - flexion and rotation of 5thCMC joint: opposition of little finger
Extensor carpi ulnaris
Origin - lateral eicondyle via common extensor tendon
Insertion - dorsoulnar aspect of base of 5th metacarpal
Action - extension and ulnar deviation of the wrist
Flexor digitorum superficialis
Origin - common flexor tendon and anterior part of ulnar collateral ligament
Insertion - palmar aspects of the shafts of the middle phalanges
Action - primarily flexor of the PIPs, assists flexion of MCP and wrist joints
Dorsal interssei
Origin - adjacent sides of metacarpal bones
Insertion - radial side of proximal phalanx of 3nd and 3rd digits, ulnar side proximal phalanx of 3rd and 4thdigits
Action - abduction of fingers at MCP joint relative to middle finger
Flexor Carpi Radialis
Origin - medial epicondyle of the humerus via the common flexor tendon
Insertion - palmar aspect of the base of the second metacarpal
Action - flexion and radial deviation of the wrist
abductor pollicis brevis
Origin - flexor retinaculum; tubercles of scaphoid and trapezium
Insertion - radial aspect of the base of proximal phalanx of the thumb and the extensor apparatus of the thumb
Action - abduction of CMC and MCP joints of thumb, assists thumb opposition
palmer interossei
Origin - ulnar and palmar surfaces of 2nd metacarpal, radial side of 4th and 5th metacarpals
Insertion - extensor apparatus, ulnar aspect on 2nd digit, radial on 4th and 5th digits
Action - adduction of fingers at MCP joint relative to middle finger
Extensor digitorum
Origin - lateral epicondyle of the humerus via the common extensor tendon
Insertion - bases of middle and distal phalanges of fingers via the dorsal digital expansion
Action - extension of DIPs, PIPs, MCPs, assists wrist extension
Flexor digiti minimi brevis
Origin - hook of hamate and ulnar border of flexor retinaculum
Insertion - ulnar aspect of base of proximal phalanx of little finger
Action - flexion of MCP joint and opposition of little finger
Oppenens Pollicis
Origin - flexor retinaculum and tubercle of trapezium
Insertion - palmar aspect of radial border of 1st metacarpal
Action - flexion, abduction and medial rotation of the 1stCMC joint: opposition of thumb
Extensor carpi radialis (longus and brevis)
Origin - brevis: lateral epicondyle of humerus via common extensor tendon, longus: distal 1/3 of lateral supracondylar ridge of the humerus
Insertion - brevis: dorsal aspect of base of 3rd metacarpal, longus: posterior aspect of base of 2nd metacarpal
Action - extension and radial deviation of the wrist
extensor pollicis longus and brevis

Adductor pollicis brebis oblique and transverse heads
Origin - palmar aspect of bases of 2nd and 3rd metacarpals and adjacent carpal bones palmer surface of 3rd metacarpal
Insertion - ulnar side of the base of the proximal phalanx of the thumb
Action - adducts CMP and MCP joints of thumb, assists MCP flexion
