Synagogue
A
A synagogue is a place of worship. It comes in all shapes and sizes but must have the Star of David outside.

The ark
A
Every synagogue has an ark. It is the focal point of the synagogue. In it are the scrolls of Torah. It is kept behind a curtain.

Scrolls of Torah
A
These are the book of Moses written in scrolls. Each scroll is covered in a mantle and kept in the ark.

Ner Tamid
A
Also called the ever lasting light. This is the perpetual light. It is a sign of ever lasting covenant with God.

Bimah
A
In the centre of the synagogue is a raised platform called the bimah. The Torah and prayers are read from here.
