Why did civilization develop more rapidly in certain geographical regions
Civilizations near rivers usually meant there was fertile soil. With fertile soil the agriculture would flourish. When the agriculture flourished there was a surplus. With a surplus there was extra food that people could use to grow a population and create civilizations. The middle east flourished with wheat and barely.
What misconceptions are there about Africa?
- Africa has no noteworthy history
- modern music can be traced back to african folk music
- slavery
- Egypt had slaves before america did

How does Islam historically compare with Judaism and Christianity?
- Monotheistic
- Rooted in Christianity (developed in middle east)
- All 3 religions had a revelation from God; Islam’s was the final revelation

- The romans didn’t like the influence of Jesus so they crucified him
- There were persecutions of Christians
- In 70 C.E. the romans attacked Jerusalem which led the Christians to disperse
- Constantine became the first Christian emperor
- Theodosius changed the official religion of the roman empire to Christianity
What is the significance of the Silk Road in terms of cultural diffusion?
