A way in which a culture expresses itself ex (music, literature, drama, dance)
Entertainment
The activites that occupy peoples leisure time ex (sports, reading, tv, muha)
Technology
the tools used to make life/work easier ex ( iphone, computer, tv, printer)
Economics
the money or system that people use to obtain what they need. ex (traditional, mixed, command)
Social Structure
The organization of society which includes the family, community and education. ex (community size, friends/family)
Customs/Traditions
Activities used to celebrate the culture ex ( puerto rican parade nyc, mummers parade, 7 fish dinner)
Religious Beliefs
Society’s belief in a higher being and that the customs that accompany those beliefs ex ( christianity, Judaism, islam)
Government
The way in which rules are set up and enforced in a society ex ( democracy, monarchy, oligarchy)
Background History
The past events of a society, how society got where it is today
Acculturation
assimilation to a different culture, typically a dominant one
Anthropology
the scientific study of humanity, concerned with human behavior, human biology, cultures, societies and linguistics, in both present and past
Archaeology
A branch of anthropology that examines ancient societies through their artifacts (like tools and buildings).
Colonialism
When a country takes control of another country or territory to exploit it for resources.
Culture
The shared beliefs, behaviors, and customs of a group of people.
Cultural Diffusion
The way cultural beliefs and practices spread from one group to another.
Ethnic Group
Groups of people who share common cultural traits, such as language and traditions.
Ethnocentric
Believing that one’s own culture is superior to others.
Indigenous People
The original inhabitants of a region, often with unique languages and cultures.
