Climate region
Is a group of places that have similar temperatures, precipitation levels, and changes in weather.
Main idea of world climate regions
Geographers identify climate regions to help them understand and catagorize life on Earth.
The 5 regions
- dry climate
- humid temperate climate
- humid equatorial climates
- tundra or ice climate
- humid cold climate
Dry climate
Have little to no rain or snow and both hot temperature. Plant life includes shrubs and cacti.
Humid temperate climate
Have cool winters, warm summers, and ample rainfall. Plant life includes mixed forests with evergreens and leafy trees.
Humid equatorial climates
They have high temperatures and rainfall all or most of the year. Plant life includes tropical plants and rain forests or grassland with trees.
Tundra or ice climate
They have long, cold winters and shorts summers. Plant life includes mosses or no vegetation.
Humid cold climates
Have cold winter, warm summers, rain, and snow. Plant life includes evergreen or deciduous (leafy) forest.
