Q

Utilitarian concept of triage

A
  • method often seen in a war zone (ex: bombing, more injured than ambulances or medics)
  • Start with philosophers in 18th-19th centuries
  • Maximize good outcome amongst a population
  • Rather than ranking on individual needs → how can i save the most number of lives or the most number of years of life
  • Might want to pick people who have a better chance of surviving or younger people

Q

Deliberate democracy

A

Deliberate democracy = gathering a bunch of people, initiating a scenario (e.g., too many pts, too few resources say ventilators).

Researchers lay out 3 options:

  • Picking out the people who have the most chance of surviving with the most years of life (young, healthy)
  • Health responders that will be able to help in the future
  • First come first serve
