Nominal variable

A

Based on qualitative classification without any logical ranking. E.g. Colour - no inherent ranking

Q

Interval variable

A

Measured on a numerical scale. Interval variables are continuous variables. Interval variables do not have an absolute zero. E.g. Sea level (negative sea level is also possible)

A

Measured on a numerical scale. Ratio variables are continuous variables. Ratio variables have an absolute 0. E.g. Height or weight

Q

Median

A

The middle value.

  1. Order all the values from low to high
  2. Count how many values there are
  3. Split the number in two and round it up
  4. Count from the beginning to the value from step 3 to find the middle value
