Why should you record the number of operatives?
Useful indication of the contractors progress on site
Why should you observe weather conditions on site
May be a reason for an EOT
Why should materials on site be checked
To confirm they are the same as what was specified and cheaper substitutes have not been used
What is a contractors progress report?
Tell you how the contractor is getting on on the project and you can use it to compare against programme to see if they are on programme.
Why should quality of workmanship be measured against the agreed specification of works?
If works are not being completed to the recommended standard it needs to be highlighted as soon as possible
Why are valuations important?
Check the contractor has undertaken the works they have stated they have
What is a clerk of works?
Someone who could be there on a day-to-day basis. They are employed by the client to check on the quality of the work and to confirm it will end to the clients standards and specification.
What could progress reports include?
Prepared by the CA for the client to detail progress. They could include summary of the progress, analysis of progress against programme, any delays and a cause of delays, progress photos, weather reports, H&M issues, design issues, payments etc.

Assess client satisfaction
Identify strengths and weaknesses

What will programmes identify?
Dates and durations allocated to tasks
Critical path
Tasks which can only be carried out after other tasks have been completed
