Working Scientifically Key Words: Flashcards
Observations
Observations are made through human senses,
Investigations
Its a plan for asking questions and testing possible answers.
Data
Data combines with many things like statistics, methods, artificial intelligence and data analysis. Data
Variable
In science anything that might affect the outcome of an investigation is called a variable. The thing that is affected as a result of the change is also a variable
Dependent variable
It is the variable you measure
Independent variable
The variable you change to see what happens
Control variable
A variqble that must be kept the same for an investigation or science experiment. It is to prevent it affecting your results
Plan
A is either any diagram or list of steps with details in order to achieve or to do something.
Precise
Marked by accuracy and precision of expossion or detail
Repeatable
the data is similar of a repeated investigation
Reproducible
If others do the same investigation to someone else and get similar results
Continuous
The value can have any value, such as length or temperature
Discrete
The data can have only whole number values, such as number of paperclips or woodlice.
Categoric
The value is a word, such as ‘blue’ or ‘hot’
Risk assessment
This is where something explains on how will you reduce the chance of damage to equipment and, or people.
