Restrict from patient contact and contact with the patient’s environment until discharge ceases.

Acute Stage

Restrict from patient contact, contact with the patient’s environment, or food handling
Restrict from care of high- risk patients
Diptheria
Exclude from duty until antimicrobial therapy completed and two cultures obtained 24 hours apart are negative.
Enteroviral Infections
Restrict from care of infants, neonates, and immunocompromised patients and their environments.
Hep A
Restrict from patient contact, contacts with patient’s environment, and food handling
Hep B
Do no perform exposure prone procedures until counsel wform an expert review panel. Until hep B e antigen is negative.
Hep C
N recommendations. Until lesions heal.
Measles
Active
Post Exposure
exclude from duty until 7 days after rash appears
From 5th day post exposure to day 21 after last exposure or 4 days post appearance of rash.
Meningococcal infections
Exclude from duty until 24 hours post start of effective therapy.
Pediculosis
Restrict from patient contact until treated and observed free of adult and immature lice.
Pertussis
Active - exclude from duty
Postexposure ( aasymptomatic)- no restriction- prophylaxis recommended
Postexposure (symptomatic)- exclude from duty
From beginning of catarrhal stage through third week after onset of paroxysms or until 5 days after start of effective antimicrobial therapy.
Until 5 days after start of effective antimicrobial therapy.
