refuse, reject or deny?

Refuse + noun or verb:

● I refused the job.
● I refuse to work.

Reject + noun

● They rejected my job application.

Deny means to tell that you didn’t do something you are blamed for. Also deny means not letting someone have something. Deny + gerund or noun:

● I denied breaking the window (They say I broke the window but I clame that I actually didn’t).
● His application was denied (They didn’t let his application to be considered).

Staff - the group of people who work for an organization:

● The staff are not very happy about the latest pay increase.
● There are over a hundred staff in the company.
● She thanked the staff for their dedication and enthusiasm.

Stuff - things that someone says or does, when you are referring to them in a general way without saying exactly what they are:

● We did some really interesting stuff today.
● Do you want help bringing your stuff in from the van?
● I love milk - I drink gallons of the stuff.

Recipe - a set of instructions telling you how to prepare and cook food, including a list of what food is needed for this:

● Do you know a good recipe for wholemeal bread?
● You’ll need a can of tuna for this recipe.

Also you can say recipe as a medical prescription, but usually they say prescription - is the piece of paper on which your doctor writes an order for medicine and which you give to a chemist or pharmacist to get the medicine:

● These drugs are only available on prescription (= with a prescription from a doctor).
● I was given the wrong tablets when the chemist misread my prescription.

Receipt - a piece of paper that you get from someone as proof that they have received money or goods from you:

● Make sure you are given a receipt for everything you buy.
● If you’ve got your receipt you can usually exchange the goods.

● At the end of the movie the lights of the room were turned on.
● At the end of the class she suddenly stood up and left.
● At the beginning of this song the woman sings about difficulties of the life.

in the end - without specific time:

● I thought they were my friends but in the end they turned out to be assholes.
● She lived a really healthy life but in the end she died of a heart attack.
● In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth.
