Pronoun
Used in place of a noun that is already known

Personal pronouns
Used in place of nouns referring to specific people or things

Subjective pronouns
Act as the subjects of verbs
exp. I, you, he, she, it, they

Objective pronouns
Act as the objects of verbs and prepositions
exp. me, you, us, him, her, it, them
Catherine saw HER.
Nick drove US home.
Possessive pronouns
Refer to something owned by the speaker or by someone previously mentioned
exp. mine, yours, hers, his, ours, theirs
That book is MINE
Reflexive pronouns
Refer back to the subject of the clause in which they are used
exp. myself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, etc

Determiners
A word that introduces a noun
exp. a/an, the, every, this, those, many
Possessive determiners
Come before nouns and indicate ownership of the noun
exp. my, his, its, their
MY leg hurts
James sold HIS business
Definite article
Used to refer to a particular member of a group or class exp. THE
Indefinite article
Indicates that its noun is not a particular one identifiable to the listener
