What is “Positive/Normal Word Order”
Word order that is set up as English is set up.
Normal Word Order - “My cousin and his fiancée arrive at six o’clock.”
Translated to French in Normal Word Order - «Mon cousin et sa fiancée arrivent à six heures.»
Normal Word Order - “The first lesson is very important.”
Translated to French in Normal Word Order - «La première leçon est très importante.»
What is “Negative Word Order”?
To make a sentence negative, you have to place “ne” before the verb, and “pas” after. (The “ne” becomes “n’” before a vowel or a silent “h”)
Negative Word Order - “I do not speak very well.”
Translated to French in Negative Word Order - «Je ne parle pas très bien.»
Negative Word Order - “The city is not very large.”
Translated to French in Negative Word Order - «Cette ville n’est pas très grande.»
