Acquiesce
Verb - to accept, or agree to something, often unwillingly
“Even though I didn’t want to go to the mall with her, Laura’s begging eventually caused me to acquiesce”
Adversity
Noun - a difficult situation or condition; misfortune
“Due to a lack of rainfall, the farmer experienced a long period of adversity”
Allusion
Noun - a statement that refers to someting indirectly; an indirect reference
“While the president’s speech seems original, it contains an allusion to a speech made by another world leader.”
Arbitrate
Verb - to settle an argument between two groups after hearing the ideas and opinions of both
“Often I have to arbitrate disagreements between two of my good friends.”
Berate
Verb - to criticize, or scold, someone in a loud and angry way

Verb - put side by side to show contrast
“It is interesting to juxtapose the lifestyle of today’s teenage generation with that of their grandparents.”

Adj - difficult to understand; unintelligible
Malevolent
Adj - wish harm to others; malicious

Opportunist
Noun - people who see a chance to gain some advantage from a situation
