An adjective describes a noun.

A verb is an action. E.g. Run, skip, smile etc.

An adverb describes a verb (action).
E.g. Quickly, slowly, excitedly, cautiously, happily.

A
A noun is the name of a thing, person or place.

Proper noun
A
A proper noun is the name of a special thing, person or place. They always start with a capital letter. E.g. Mrs Simmons, Harrogate, Harry Potter, Buckingham Palace.

Pronoun
A
A pronoun can be used instead of a noun. E.g. He, she, it & they.

Root word
A
A root word is the smallest part of the word that has meaning.

Suffix
A
A suffix is added on the end god a root word. E.g. s, ed, ing, ly & iest.

A
A prefix is added onto the front of a root word. E.g. un- undo pre- preview de- decamp

A compound word is made by putting 2 separate words together to make 1 word. E.g. Speedboat Playground Swimsuit
