Nouns
A noun refers to a person, animal or thing.
Verbs
A verb refers to an action, event or state.
Adjectives
Adjectives give us more information. They modify or describe features and qualities of people, animals and things.
Adverbs
We useadverbs to add more information about a verb, an adjective, another adverb, a clause or a whole sentence and, less commonly, about a noun phrase.
Pronouns
We use pronouns in place of nouns and noun phrases
Possesive Pronouns
Apronoun indicating possession, for example mine, yours, hers, theirs.
Prepositions
Prepositions describe the relationship between words from the major word classes.
Determiners
Determiners come before nouns. They show what type of reference the noun is making.
Conjunctions
Conjunctions show a link between one word, phrase or clause and another word, phrase or clause.
Plural Noun
Plural nouns are normally formed by adding -s to the singular noun
Modal Verb
A modal verb is a type of verb that contextually indicates a modality such as a likelihood
Abstract Noun
A noun denoting an idea, quality, or state rather than a concrete object
Proper Noun
A proper noun is a noun that serves as the name for a specific place, person, or thing.
