A

A biosphere reserve is a large area of land which offers protection to plants, animals and tribal communities living in the forest areas. It maintains the biodiversity and culture of an area. It may also contain national parks and wildlife sanctuaries in it. Examples include Nanda Devi biosphere reserve in Uttrakhand and Khangchendzonga National Park (or Kanchenjunga Biosphere Reserve) in Sikkim.
