Motherhood Cross(1938) - Bronze - 4 children Silver - 6 children Gold - 8 children Marriage loans - If the woman had 4 children then the marriage loan was considered a gift.
What was Lebensborn?
Young women who were deemed “racially pure” would give birth to a child in secret. The child was then given to the SS organization which took charge in the child’s education and adoption. Both mother and father needed to pass a “racial purity” test. Blond hair and blue eyes were preferred, and family lineage had to be traced back at least three generations. Of all the women who applied, only 40 percent passed the racial purity test and were granted admission to the Lebensborn program.
What was the role of women?
To cook and clean and look after the children and their husband.
In what cases, were women sterilised?
If a women had a physical or mental illness, they would have been ordered to be sterilised.
What were women not allowed to do?
They weren’t allowed to: wear revealing clothes and makeup, smoke, earn their own money, work, go to school, drink and they had to be a virgin when married.
