Wolseys enemies hated him, they saw him as arrogant and vindictive. On the other hand, he flattered and manipulated Henry, offering him lavish gifts and tokens while pitching his ideas.

How did Wolsey treat people that intimidated him?

A

He used his legal powers as Chancellor and a network of informants to intimidate anyone he saw as a rival. For example, he treated the Duke of Buckingham especially bad. In 1520, he investigated him after a rumor that he said the King might not be King for much longer, in 1521 he was ordered to London, arrested and imprisoned in the tower.
