Wolff-Parkinson-White Flashcards
1
Q
Broad WPW ECG findings
A
- Short PR interval, <0.12 s
- Wide QRS complex, >0.12 s
- Delta wave (a slurred upstroke in the QRS complex)
2
Q
Narrow WPW ECG findings
A
- Short PR interval, <0.12 s
- Narrow QRS complex, <0.12 s
- Delta wave (a slurred upstroke in the QRS complex) - early depolarisation of the ventricles
3
Q
What is WPW?
A
WPW syndrome is a congenital pre-excitation syndrome that occurs due to the presence of an accessory electrical pathway (Bundle of Kent) between the atria and ventricles. It predisposes patients to supraventricular tachycardias, specifically an AVRT (Atrioventricular Re-entrant Tachycardia)
4
Q
WPW definitive Tx
A
Radiofrequency ablation
5
Q
Beta-blocker, CCB contraindications in WPW
A
- Blocking of the conduction at AV node, promoting accessory pathway
