how did people feel about WLM king?
people thought he wasn’t doing a good enough job during the depression. felt he didn’t care about getting people on their feet bc he believed that the business cycle would fix itself
how did people feel about rb Bennett?
liked him at first bc he promised to do better. rich people liked him because he gave them more money. poorer people didn’t like him because he payed them pennies. didn’t think he did enough as president as he also believed in the business cycle would fix itself.
who was a better prime minister?
neither. both were selfish, and didnt really care about the countries. neither did enough to prevent further unemployement.
what was WLMs response to the depression?
“the business cycle with figure itself out”, refused to help out provinces that didnt support him, said that unemployment was a provincial problem
what was rb Bennetts response to the depression?
expected business cycle to turn itself around itself, introduced tariffs to protect Canadian manufacturers from competition from goods coming in from other countries, would send money to people who personally write him
